Yes, I haven’t blogged for a while. I haven’t had a reason to, and that’s because of one thing and one thing alone - FriendFeed (FF).

It stormed into my online life in the last few months and now I can’t imagine a day without it. I remember 2 years ago, I told all of my friends the same things about Google Reader. And it gets worse: this disease is affecting not only me but most of the scientific bloggers whom I know. Everyone has noticed a drop in blogging activity after FF came up. Really, we don’t need to blog so frequent now or maybe even we don’t need to blog at all, because we have FriendFeed.

FriendFeed is a social aggregator that consolidates the updates from social websites. The company was founded by ex-Googlers and launched in February 2008.

I’d like to highlight some features about FF that I love:
1. FF currently one of the smartest ways to keep updated in areas of your interests, because you’re reading like-minded users shared items;
2. FF is one of the best and fastest ways to get opinions and suggestions about your post/idea/product from “experts” and get answers for any question;
3. FF is an incredible networking tool, which can lead to collaboration and creative ideas, which finally can increase productivity of your work;
4. you can use FF like a tool to filter “trusted content”, recommended to you by friends and experts, but not search engines:

More recently Steve Rubel wrote that FriendFeed is a threat to Google. He claims that FriendFeed’s “social contextual search” addresses a large Google weakness — an inability to provide results based on trusted content. He also makes the point that the life stream could be disruptive to giant Google’s advertising approach.

5. FF rooms allow to keep conversation focused and free of spam.
